8 Hour Pre-Assignment Training
8 Hour Pre-Assignment Training- A general introductory course. You must complete this course and submit a copy of the certificate issued to you with your security guard application.
16 Hour On The Job Training
A course relevant to the duties of guards, requirements of the work site, and the needs of the employer. You must complete this training within 90 days of employment as a security guard.
8 Hour Annual In-Service Training
This course must be completed each calendar year you hold a security guard registration. Your registration is issued for two years; therefore, you must complete two 8 Hour Annual In-Service training courses within your registration effective and expiration dates to be eligible for renewal.

Loss Prevention Training
This course is designated to teach
participants various methods to reduce
preventable losses, caused by human error or deliberate efforts including
theft and fraud.
Customer Relation Training
This course is designed to teach participants proper communication techniques, how to help others, and other vital customer/ client-facing strategies.
Metal Detection Training
This course is designated to teach participants the proper use of hand-held metal detection devices, often used to screen patrons at various checkpoints.
Fire Guard Exam Prep
A Certificate of Fitness is required by all Fire Guards in shelters where a sprinkler system is not installed or when a fire protection system is temporarily out of service.
A shelter is a building designed to provide a temporary residence for at risk populations such as homeless or elderly persons. Fire Guards are responsible for eliminating fire hazards and assisting in the evacuation of occupants during drills and in cases of emergency. A Fire Safety Coordinator is required to supervise Fire Guards.
This Certificate of Fitness is valid only for the specific person to whom it is issued and can be used anywhere within New York City.
Job Readiness Training
These abilities help employees learn how to interact with supervisors and co-workers. They help reinforce the importance of timeliness and build an understanding of how we are perceived by others.
